John R. Park Homestead Photography Field Trip - May 17, 2016

What a great day for learning photography!  While our Arts & Culture SHSM students earned two imporant certifications in Curatorial Techniques and Photographic Processing, the rest of our Grade 11 & 12 field trip participants spent the day doing artistic photographic exploration.

John R. Park Homestead (Essex Region Conservation Authority, west of Harrow) proved to be a wonderful destination for our students to mix history, nature and cameras!

Here are a few shots from the day:

Working With The Environment: Art Competition 2016

Congratulations to student artist Georgina Attard for her inspiring contribution to the annual "Working With The Environment: Art Competition" held last week at the ArtSpeak Gallery on Wyandotte. Georgina's piece is a mixed media/photography triptych that represents the connection between freshwater resources and the survival of our environment. "We all have a responsibility to take care of the environment.." observed Georgina in her descriptor. So true! Well done Georgina!

Education Week and the Arts at FJB

A  Big Congratulations goes out Mr. Stephen Kristof and his talented photography students for their amazing exhibition, held throughout the week of May 2nd, 2016 at the ArtSpeak Gallery on Wyandotte Street in Windsor.  This awesome display and contribution to Education Week, garnered a ton of appreciation by a considerable number of visitors and patrons of the arts.   The work was thoughtful, inspiring and incredibly professional!   If you didn't get a chance to go this year,  be sure to make a point of attending next year's event!   Simply wonderful!

Congrats and thank you also goes out to the 35 students that participated in Music Monday's Flashmob.    After five secret , after-school rehearsals,  an energetic group of our students--both music and non-music, gathered in the cafeteria on Monday, May 2nd at 11:10 am.  to sing and groove to Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson.  It was a blast to perform and definitely helped communicate the power of music to our surprised  onlookers in the cafeteria.  It was also an awesome contribution to Education Week at FJBHS.   We even had a little help from three brave staff members:  Mrs. Lydia' D'Angelo,  Mrs Antonella Cozzolino-Giorlando and Mr. Marko Senjanin   Well done all!  Please take a moment to check  our video !  The link is posted below!
